Graduation

Well, Brandon has earned himself another one. He earned his MM (Master of Music) in Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy from our University of Michigan here. I hear the ceremony went well, but Kurt and I (and Luke too) spent most of our time outside. We were able to make it back in to see him cross the stage and get his fake-loma before Kurt's next tirade/tantrum begun. It is sad and nice to have another chapter of our lives complete.
For those who haven't heard, we'll be moving to Iowa City, IA in July to attend the University of Iowa where Brandon will earn his DMA.

Apple? Or is it a tomato?

Kurt pulled this out of the fridge the other day for a snack. He's always loved tomatos. But before I had a chance to cut it up, he was off to play eating his "apple."

JUMP!

Kurt learned to jump today. He's been trying for awhile now, but today, both feet officially left the ground at the same time. He seemed quite shocked at that, especially when he ended up on his bum. But I could tell he was excited as he jumped again a few more times.

Spring

Well, we still don't think spring has officially arrived for us here in Ann Arbor (still no buds, blooms or flowers), but this week has been at least sunny and almost warm. And since Brandon is done with classes, we decided to take advantage of our off day and spend it with Daddy in the Arboretum. We had a great time! Kurt was so excited to finally be outside again and loved exploring every rock, stick and leaf we walked by. Needless to say, we didn't get very far in our time there. But it was so fun to see him excited about everything. I even let him be a little boy and get as dirty as he chose. :) And Daddy was excited because he found another letterbox. He loves taking Kurt on the "treasure hunts." Kurt loves his daddy time.

We've also spent some time on our little playground here. Friends have been most helpful and have come to take Kurt out to play as it's hard for me to be out for extended periods of time. He loves the slides again this year. He runs/climbs right up and steps out onto the slide without skipping a beat. He is an active boy who loves running, climbing, splashing, and laughing. He's already getting hard to keep up with.

Recovery

I feel like I'm starting to get back to the normal world again. It has been hard some days, but I'm feeling much better than I thought I would at this point. Luke is still doing wonderfully. He's sleeping for about 6 hours straight at night (fantastic huh?!) and is already growing. Kurt LOVES his brother or his "baby" as he mostly calls him. He always climbs up on the couch next to me, holds his arms out and says please. They're going to be great friends!

Luke is here!

After much anticipation, Luke William Bascom is here! He was born April 5, 2008 at 11:42 a.m. He weighed in at 9 lbs, 5.2 oz, and was measured at 21.5 inches tall. Lindsey had a C section, and is recovering, though a little sore. We went to the hospital at 8:00, so it took under 4 hours, which is much faster than the 3 day fiasco with the inducing when Kurt was born. Lindsey did very well. The doctors didn't feel Luke was dropping fast enough, and his face was up, and they couldn't get him to turn. And they also knew we had a sonogram that estimated his weight at 9 lbs. 9 ounces, so all things considered, they elected to do the C section. We were surprised at how quickly it went. Luke has long fingers and toes. Luke can already hold his head up while pushing with his arms. He has blue eyes, and his hair looks like it is going to be blonde. Kurt says baby! over and over again, and calls him Nuke! He is having trouble with his L's. We are sure glad he is hear, and that he is healthy. Now on to the next adventure!
