We met the Walk's in Salt Lake for a little fun. Gramma, Lacy, Richard, Max and Katie came over for lunch and fun at the Gateway.

Tiny Town, CO

We started researching things to do in/around Denver since we'd have a little bit of time and found this cool little place. Everything was miniature - originally started by this guy who built replicas of the town they lived in for his daughter. But most importantly, of course, was that they had miniature trains to ride.

Engineer Kurt

Everyone at Tiny Town was talking about Kurt and his train clothes. I was walking around while the boys were all on the train and I heard people saying, "Have you seen the little boy dressed up like a Conductor? Isn't he so cute?" He was pretty disappointed that he couldn't actually drive the train engine, but he settled for being the Engineer back in the Caboose.

And here he is, manning the Caboose. "All Aboard!"

One of the Train Conductors. They were so nice to Kurt. They knew how much he wanted to drive the train, so they took him up to the engine and showed him around and even let him toot the whistle. (Kurt really didn't want to pose for this picture)

The town. They were all furnished. The boys liked peaking in the windows at what was inside.

This was Luke's favorite. He was so excited at the cars he was almost jumping up and down.

Denver

Pit Stop #2 - Our ambitious start time paid off and we made it to Denver at a decent hour. We dined at some crazy cheesy Mexican restaurant that Brandon had gone to when he was younger - Casa Bonita. The food was way below par (minus the sopapillas - they were pretty good, but sugar is sugar) but the boys enjoyed the entertainment.

Winter Quarters

Pit Stop #1 - Winter Quarters

We got up really early (4am) hoping the boys would go back to sleep in the car and we could get a few peaceful hours under our belts. But no, they were wide awake from the moment we began. We stopped in Winter Quarters and hit the visitors center to check for a local church building, change out of pj's and use the bathrooms.

Luke was obsessed with this ball sign. We had a wait a little bit for the v. center to open up so we roamed around and I let Luke hang onto the pole.

Build to Grow

We recently discovered Lowe's Build to Grow program every other Saturday. Kurt really enjoys going to build a new project. Luke thinks the hammers are fun and I'm sure can't wait until we actually let him use one.

UNO ATTACK!!

Kurt enjoys "playing" this game. We just hit the button and wait to see if cards shoot out at your face. :) Maybe one day I'll teach him how the real game goes.

Night at the Park

We went to the park to watch Kurt's friend "big Isaac" play in his baseball game and then headed over to the toys for a little play. It was a super hot day so we didn't stay long, but we enjoyed city park.

King of the Castle

This is one of Kurt's favorite buildings here in IC. We still haven't really decided what it is. But in our family it is the castle.

Smoked

As a "motivation tool" we'll offer to race Kurt somewhere (I know, terrible) - to the table, first to finish their vegetables, to bed, etc. Today he apparently was racing himself because he said, "Ooh, I smoked myself!"

Big Boy

I let Luke go ahead solo on his yogurt this morning. He enjoyed it very much and now won't let me feed him anymore.

Veggies

Because the boys need to eat more vegetables, I was trying to make them more fun and appealling... I put this out while I was finishing dinner because they can never seem to make it until dinner is actually done. I added a little ranch and this Happy Guy almost completely disappeared!

Smush

While Kurt was inside participating at some more music time - dancing and jumping away,

Rhythm Sticks

We went to a music storytime at the library and got to take home these "rhythm sticks." We decided to paint them to make them prettier. I only have 3 colors of paint, so they look a bit like Christmas :) but he had a great time painting.

"Bless Me"

Brandon and Kurt were playing a game (I think) and Kurt says, "Bless me" and then he sneezed. Brandon giggles and moves to continue the game and Kurt says, "Wait dad, Bless me" and then he fake sneezes. I guess he'd get another chuckle from his Daddy.

Boogers

Kurt's been a picker (probably my OCD fault) but lately he picks at nothing just to be doing something I think. His new rule is supposed to be that he can only pick his nose in the bathroom (hopefully with TP), but he forgets that alot. I caught him picking in the car the other day and reminded him of the rule and that he shouldn't pick his nose. He said okay. Then, a few seconds later he says to me, "Mom, I put it back in okay?"

Birthday Cake

Since we had such a cool cake for Luke's birthday, Kurt was asking Daddy what kind of cake he wanted to have. He asked him if he wanted a Thomas cake, and daddy said no. He asked if he wanted a Lightning McQueen cake, and daddy said no. Next (after a moment of serious thought and contemplation) he asked if he wanted a dinosaur cake and daddy said yes. I didn't go get a dinosaur pan, I just thought we'd try to build one. It turned out looking a little like an alligator-saur, but pretty good for last minute caking. Kurt was very excited to make his daddy a cake and eat all the extra decorations too.
