"She was from Iowa and I had once heard of Iowa..."

Thanks to MammaRue's (and GG and Grandpa) "surprise" visit, we survived our first few days and now first week of being in Iowa. Since our landlords were not prepared for our arrival as they were supposed to have been, we had to spend half of our time cleaning the place before we unpacked anything. We did the beds first so that we'd all have have somewhere to sleep. Then Mom got the bathroom cleaned for us while GG (oh, that's Great Grandma Ames in case you didn't know...that is her chosen Great Grandma title) and I cleaned and unpacked the kitchen so that we could at least function amidst our boxes. It was very nice to be able to have a real meal again after a week of burgers, pizza, etc. We had a great dinner on Sunday to help us celebrate Kurt's birthday. We also kept Grandpa Ames busy checking out all the "broken" aspects of our house. He and Brandon were pretty busy with that and fixing what they could. We're still waiting on other things from our landlord, but have unpacked everything that we can thus far. Our dining room is still pretty full of boxes so we're simply living in and around them.
But we couldn't have done it without their help!! Because, lets be honest, they did pretty much everything while I snuggled Kurt, fed Luke, distracted Kurt, fed Luke, bribed Kurt with snacks, fed Luke... :) So, THANK YOU MammaRue, GG and Gpa Ames!! I only wish you could have stayed longer to play with us after all the work was done.

DISCLAIMER FOR BRANDON: He wanted to make sure that I posted that it doesn't look like that where we are...you have to exit the Iowa City limits before you see cornfields :)
