Root, root, root for the HAWKEYES!

We're loving our season tickets for Hawkeye Baseball!
Stuck foul ball
Here's the team after a win
Sometimes they let the kids run the bases after the game is over
Luke needed a few directions
Kurt introduced himself to Kurt Lee and KL gave him the game ball
Some more guys on the team
Pound it.
I think this is Mike who is Luke's favorite player.
Not Hurkey, but a Hawkeye

Garden 2010

We probably won't even be around long enough to enjoy the rewards of our hard work, but we're growing one anyway. Whoever lives here next will get to have our harvest. We hope it won't just go to waste...
Getting a row ready for seeds
Planting the seeds while he's watching Luke
(do you notice Brandon fixing all the ones after he puts them in?)
Poking the seed hole for watermelon I think
Woohoo! I'm all done!

Blank Park Zoo

After we dropped Dad off at the airport I was trying to figure out what we could do for Luke's birthday even though we weren't actually going to celebrate it until Dad got home. The sun was shining in Iowa City, so I thought we'd head over and check out the zoo in Des Moines. The sun did not follow us there and were happy we didn't get rained on. And they had a fun time enjoying the animals.
They liked the waterfall
This bridge was exciting, and then scary, and then kind of exciting again
They like the big cats
This monkey watched us eat our lunch (I think he was secretly hoping we'd share)
This guy was our best entertainment of the day (and this is all he did...)
I always like the giraffes
Reminded me of Hoggle Zoo. This one talked and growled? (is that how you'd describe the sound a hippo makes?) at you when you took a drink so they didn't like it much at first. But after the picture they couldn't get enough of it.
"Jook at me Mama. Pink."
We all like the fish
They like to run

Easter Pictures

Easter

The boys put some carrots in their easter buckets for the bunny.
Kurt finding his bucket
Luke finding his bucket
Daddy's basket
The bunny hid a few eggs for the boys, so after they found their baskets they went looking for their eggs. The EB color coordinated them so they knew what colors they could find - Kurt's were orange and Luke's were green.
Kurt was the lucky boy who found the golden egg this year.

Priesthood Donuts

It's not too hard to keep up with this Bascom family tradition
Chocolate Milk-Stache

Egg Hunt

After going to a few crazy community hunts last year, I decided that I'd rather do my own. So we invited some friends and looked forward to fun. Then, it rained... :( But we didn't let that stop us. We proceeded in the damp and wet. I don't think the kids had any complaints.
This was the activity for the kids while the adults hid the eggs- I like edible fun.
Luke really enjoyed himself - he had to show me every egg that he found
Kurt's a funny "hunter." He won't pick up the ones that are right in front of him. He has to go looking for them. His eyes were always looking for another one, even though there are 5 right underneath him :)
