University of Nebraska Museum

Since we drove 13+ hours to Lincoln on the first day back, we decided to make a few stops the second day. The University had a fun little museum. Here's Kurt excavating some bones
All the boys excavating in the big pit
Can you tell what they found?

Fireworks

The boys were excited (and patriotic thanks to Aunt Lisa) as we headed down past 9th East (the firework boundary in Provo) to do a few fireworksI know it's hard to tell b/c it's dark, but this was Kurt "catching" the parachute. He fell down, lost his shoe and caught the parachute in his shoe.
Showing off his catch, still shoeless...

4th of July Parade

The parade was a lot of fun. Our camera was low battery and low memory space so we didn't get a lot of pictures, but here are a few.
Watching the pre-show
A cool shot by Brandon. This guy (I have no idea what he was - sorry Nick) looked super tough. He was patrolling the kids to keep them safe from their tank that was ZigZaging across the road and looked like it was going to tip over on top of us all.
Go Cougs!
Brandon loved that the missionaries had a float and walked the parade. Go Sisters and Elders!

Rrrocky Rrroad?

Aunt Lisa had a fabulous ice cream spread for our 4th party. The boys, Luke especially, were in heaven. Limitless ice cream at their disposal all night long...

The Ride

Before we moved anywhere in the car...
Kurt really liked Grandpa's car (We saw Grandpa when he got it out of the garage and he showed Kurt all around and told him all about the different parts. They probably talked about the car for 10-15 minutes), but didn't want to be inside of it at all. I think the ahooga horn was a bit loud for him the first time he heard it.
After we returned...
30 seconds into the ride he says, "Ooh, I think this is fun now." He loved being able to wave at all the people as we drove by. He even let Grandpa honk the horn as long as he did little ones.

Oquirrh Mountain Temple

We had the opportunity to visit the temple during it's Open House. I love going to as many temples as I can. This was especially nice as we could share it with the boys and teach them about the temple in person. Luke wasn't as receptive as Kurt that day - we discovered about halfway through that he was cutting 3 molars while we were inside. Picture by Daniel Smith

Hot Air Balloons

We ventured into the wee hours of the morning again to go see the air balloons be blown up and take flight. We got to see them inflate, but none of the flew. They apparently didn't like the beautiful blue sky - thought it looked threatening or something :)
